wear there gown during birth, bring old sox or sox you will not mind throwing away, or wear hospitals during birth because they could get yucky, bring clothes to go home in for you and baby, a baby blanket, a robe , slippers, and night clothes, bring your own pads if you don't like hospital ones, extra undies, a nursing bra, toiletries, a couple of outfits for baby, some that look small and some larger, you never know, weight is a guess until they are here, a pillow, note book or journal, change for machines, magazines or a book, a baby hat if you want your child to wear other then hospital, a boppy if you are breastfeeding, no sense even bringing bag in when you get there, you do not really need anything right away and chances are you will switch rooms 3 times before you need it, a lot of unnecessary work, just have hubby go get it from car after you are settled and baby is here, good luck

girl bring it all a camera robe house slippers tooth paste tooth brush shampoo conditioner body wash brush because the hospitals supplies suck .Make up is optional but people will be taking pictures. Also you never know how long you will be in if you end up needing a c-section so bring pants that an have an elastic waste band. Now for the baby a car seat , baby book a ,one blanket, and two outfits one for pictures and one to go home in. When they bring in diapers or pacifiers or formula stash it so they will bring you more get it free while you can and don't feel bad if you let the baby stay in the nursery at night it will probably be the last night of decent sleep for a while good luck

Pack newborn nappies (you'll need a few as newborns poop all the time), lots of thick maternity pads, lots of black undies (because you usually get blood everywhere in the first couple of days). PJ's that undo at the front for easy breastfeeding. Normal toiletries including your own soap/wash as hospital soap is terrible for skin. Sensitive skin baby wipes. Some snacks because you'll probably be famished after you give birth & hospitals don't supply large amounts of food. That's all i can think of from my own experiences but i'm sure you'll get many other ideas from others.

Anything you want...just remember you only have a certain amount of space in your room, especially if you have to share a room and remember that you will be gaining some things when you leave. But you and whoever is with you is ultimately the only ones who have to carry it so whatever you want to bring is up to you.

Announcement cards. This is a great time to do it because once you get home with the baby you will not have time. Also, a calling card to call your loved ones out of town.
