I am sorry about these people saying to abstain from sex. THEY ARE NOT THINKING. You are a teenager i presume.
I cant believe they would just sit there and say abstain or lecture you instead of giving you THE RIGHT ADVICE. So you can protect yourself properly.
Come on people, we are no one in her life. Just helping her out. And all you say is abstain, she's gonna do it. She has already made that choice by asking about birth control...the least you could do is give her REAL ADVICE.
You are going to have sex when you want and with whomever you want. Just be sure its with the right person and you wont regret it. OK.
I will say the depo shot. I took the depo shot from the time i was 16 and on. No bad side effects and you only have to get it every 3 months instead o every month like the pill. Dont worry the shot doesnt hurt. They give it in a fatty area like your bottom or hip. With the shot you wont forget to take it like you would the pill. The depo shot takes 7 days to start working, just to be safe, and it last 3 months. Its inexpensive and you never have to worry about taking a pill EVERY DAY.
Ive done both and i will tell you, the pill is hard to remember every day b/c if you get in a rush, YOU WILL FORGET TO TAKE IT. And with the shot, you get it at the doc's office and its good for 3 months. Never have to worry about until 3 months later when you need to get it again. My doc always told me to get it ore the 3 months was fully up, this way i would never go and have sex with out the shot in me. The second that shot wares off you are VERY FERTILE and very likely to get pregnant so NEVER go past your 3 months.
I hope i have helped more than some of these others.

to talk to your child about sex and let your child babysit 48 hrs straight with you only supervising . I suggest two reliable forms of bith control , **** i missunderstood question,
That's not really good hon, I am 23 and I am about to have baby number 6 and it's not smart heading this way, you'll end up not having time to be a kid anymore, and have irresponsible fun without the responsibility you want to slow down and use two forms of reliable birth control and it's not smart to let guys come in you and it's not safe their are to many STD or STI's. Like herpes HPV and Aids, I encourage you to slow down cause sex is not everthing, and if he respects you and cares, then he shouldn't mind waiting cause giving up is what any body can do but holding on to to it takes integrity and virtue. Once you start having sex you lose a piece of your soul, and gain apart of someone elses. When you have sex with some you become united and you are one and you are considered married biblically, and some people go crazy because the slept with someone who's crazy and it's not that they are crazy But it's someone else soul and your soul fighting because when you sleep with some one it's like two becoming one. Sorry if it seems I writing to much it's just I don't want someone else to get caught up in this cycle . I wish someone had have told me this after baby number 3 when I was 17
I used this from previou question
23 and about to be a mother of 6

Well I would suggest not having sex, but I do remember being a teenager and know thats not always gonna happen - so condoms are the easiest - go to the chemist or ask a friend to get them for you...no reason for your mum to know about that (and if ur really worried, make sure ur bf is the one who keep them at his place so ur mum doesnt find them in ur room.....or, your old enough to go to the doctors on ur own, so go there or to like planned parenthood or something similar and get a prescription for the pill....in fact, it would be best to use BOTH the pill and a condom ALWAYS.
Good Luck, have fun and BE SAFE!

Go to your GP and they will get something sorted out for you. But make sure you use it every time. I can't recommend one particular form over another except that all the 'abstinence' promoters don't really know what they are talking about. They have forgotten what it was like to be a teenager.
Don't forget condoms too - you can get them free at your surgery.

i think the BEST birthcontrol is depo-provera.. Because its a shot in either the butt or the arm (if you have it in the arm remember to take off the bandaid once you get home! lolz)You can take a)one shot every 3months ,or,b)1 shot every 6 months. I think the 3 months shot is better because your less likely to forget and you get to check yourself more often. BUT the DOWNSIDE is that every shot you take your period FADES AWAY so you have less or no periods (i know thats a good thing but you don't want your mom noticing that you ain't wearing pads and stuff and assume ur pregnant?) so you gotta be slick.. and ANOTHER thing about the depo is that you EAT ALOT AND GAIN QUICK! The depo is a good birthcontrol.. I did it unprotected for a year and a half and I didnt get preggo from it (15 @ the time)..

I cant figure out why people are saying no sex is the best prevention....HELLO no kidding but you need to be informed on how to take care of it just incase you do choose to have sex....you need to be on birth control pills....but remember that will not prevent std's witch is even scarier than a unwanted pregnancy....so I say you should use both condoms and birth control pills.....honestly you will be much happier if you just wait until you are older to have sex it will make you more appealing to the boys if you have a purity that most gilrs your age might not have....keep them intrigued....

Generally, condoms. If you can get to a planned parenthood office or free clinic, ask them about depro provera. It's a shot that you get once every 3 months. It's not 97-99.7% effective, but nothing is 100%.
Remember that it doesn't protect you from STDs, including HIV/AIDS. If you're not monogamous with a partner that has been tested and is clean, use condoms instead (or in addition to) of the shot. Also, ask the doctors to check you out too, be safe.

To be honest hun, if your gonna do it, your gonna do it! Nothing any1 says on here will change your mind. But the best form of contraception I know of is the implanon. Its a little rod, about the size of a hair clip thats fitted just under the skin on the inside of your upper arm. It lasts for 3 years and then it needs replacing. I have had mine in for little over a year now and I used to get pregnant really easily. But it seems to be working perfectly for me. According to my health visitor it's the best form of contraception out there and the best thing is you can get it at your local family planning clinic so your parents need never know. However, remember that just because you won't be at risk from pregnancy, doesn't mean your not at risk from STI's so always use condoms!

I see that most answerers so far have said abstenence is your best option, and you can't argue with the numbers! Today there are far more risks than pregnancy to unprotected sex. I don't know how old you are, but for girls especially there are serious emotional effects of being too generous with your body. Why are you having sex? (Are you in love? Trying to keep a guy interested? Just for fun?) Do you have a moral standard? There's a lot to consider. You're wise to avoid pregnancy, but you might be even wiser to avoid sex at your age.
If you are determined to be sexually active, condoms help protect you from pregnancy AND infections. Use a contraceptive foam or gel to boost effectiveness. Limit the frequency of sex as these products can irritate delicate skin.
Ultimately, if you need to hide what you're doing, there's a reason. I'm a woman with a huge weakness for men - I understand! But it IS possible to abstain, and you probably should try.

You need to think very carefully before you decide to have sex, there are very serious consequences involved!
Before you get on birth control and have sex, you need to see your doctor for a pelvic exam to make sure you have a healthy uterus. And once you are sexually active you NEED to have a pelvic exam every year at your physical. This is very important because they check you for STDs and cervical cancer (which is caused by an STD)
NO birth control is 100% I was on the pill when I got pregnant with my oldest son (and I never missed a day!)
If you are determined to have sex, then you should get yourself to a planned parenthood and get a prescription for birth control pills. They will most likely give them to you for free or for a very small fee. Also you MUST use a condom. It is the only protection against STD's. Plus, two forms of birth control are better than one.
Please think about the decision you are making.
