Since it's obvious we are just alienating criminals, and crime is only growing every year, can we establish a date when we will stop putting our police in harms way and let them go home to their families to protect them there?
We need to embrace criminals, and rehabilitate them rather than trying to go to war with them. As long as no one is breaking into my house, I see no reason to have countless police officers being forced by our government to risk their lives dealing with criminals who are really only upset because the police are brutalizing them in the first place.
I support the police, but I want them off of the streets!

Since this is more of a local police issue I think we should involve our State legislators and have them set a timetable for the pull out of Police from the inner cities FIRST.

I say that we give criminals a chance to earn a useless degree like mine. They might not have a job, but they will be off the streets answering questions here, and satisfying their newfound curiosity about everything on earth.
Seriously, with online education there is no reason we should not be educating people in prison and even allowing them to work online from prison in exchange for single rooms and better food or something like that.
The biggest reason people go back to prison is that they have no skills to make it on the outside.
There is obviously an economic force surrounding this condition. The service providers and prison builders all benefit from prison's revolving door, for sure. Not to mention the unions for guards and other staff. And they are a huge lobby. Check the figures on their campaign contributions. None of this is proof of some sort of conspiracy, it just is what it is.

I have heard this before and it is BS. The police don't cause crime, they arrest suspects. You go on ahead and embrace whoever you want.
I realize there is room for improvement as far as rehabilitation programs go. But we still need police officers; if they all just went home there would be no law.
By the way, just because no one's breaking into YOUR house, doesn't mean that criminals are not breaking into the houses of others. They still need the authorities to help them in these situations.

we are able to constantly have criminals yet crime is down in maximum substantial cities, Chicago besides the fact that. No one wants to face the truth, but if poverty is alleviated,
crime will diminish. Think about it, the reason criminals
are selling drugs & robbing places is for the same reason-
money.
Because alot of corportations are getting away with paying
barely livable salaries, alot of people are without health
care - if some of these people had access to treatment,
that could also help lower the crime rate.
Instead of finding a solution to the problem, prisons are
only hiding them.
I completely agree with Mr. S about economic side of it.
It's a sad situation.

legalizing all drugs and prostitution would be a great first step as this would cut crime in half.half the people in jail are there because of some drug charge,are drugs related,if the drugs were legal then there would be so much less crime,
police seem now adays to be mostly weird barbarians
it amazes me how weird and brutal they are and will kill you on the drop of a dime
they went to see about a lady who might be going to kill herself in my town and they shot her to death in her bathroom, she was sitting on the floor.if these people had been black there would have been demonstrations in the streets.
a guy was way out in the surf,had a pistol, the policeman saw the pistol and killed him .the guy didn't point the pistol at anyone, it legal to have weapons,this lady called to say her son had a sword, he was pulled, he had the sword so the policeman killed him.these policeman murdered those poor people this past year in my town of Jacksonville Fl.

So, are you a felon by any chance? "Oh no! The Police shot the guy that was shooting at them after they asked him to put his weapon down!" Also, those who want to be officers know what they are doing, are trained for many situations, and are not being forced to do their job!

good question its not workin the jails the rehab centers as you say its constantly rising personally "judges" in my opinion have alot to do with it if you think about it enough the majority once thought freeing slaves was ridiculious but hey. THE SYSTEM is not workin whether people think thats crazy or not it needs to be changed before anything better happens in my opinion
