The first two incidents fit the traditional pattern of "hate crimes". The murder of a white couple does not. So called "hate crimes" or in the case of the Duke lacrosse players *alleged* crime are percieved by the media as hate crimes and are therefore more extensively covered. It's a legacy of the 1960s and 1970s. To be fair, most black on black crime (which most blacks statistically are the victims of) are ignored by the media also. What it all amounts to is pandering to an audience for ratings.
