Yes, if you are having true contractions. Like the others said it could be Braxton-Hicks. I never had those myself with my two pregnancies. The link below will answer the following questions:

• What are Braxton Hicks contractions?
• How can I tell the difference between Braxton Hicks and true labor contractions?
• What can I do if my Braxton Hicks contractions are making me uncomfortable?
• When should I call my doctor or midwife?

Braxton Hicks contractions are normal at this stage but if they are regular, if you are having more than four an hour, if they sort of take your breath away, you feel like you might be leaking fluid or if you are bleeding as well, go to the ER immediately. If not, I would still give the doctor a call and let him/her decide what to do. Good luck

If you are asking "could I be having contractions" the answer is yes! Time them and see how close together they are. Call your OB and let her know the severity of the pain on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the worst) and how close together the contractions are. If she is concerned she can have you come in for a quick check.

HOWEVER, a lot of women experience braxton hicks contractions as their near the end of their pregnancy. These are "practice" contractions and are not actual labor.

In my opinion, better safe than sorry! I would call the Doc.

G'day Felicia,

Thank you for your question.

It isn't necessarily too early to be having contractions. After all, you are coming towards the end of your pregnancy.

However, a more likely explanation at this stage is that they are Braxton Hicks contractions. These are occasional contractions of the uterus to prepare you for real contractions.

If they become more steady, I would start preparing for the birth. True labor contractions will become longer in length, closer in frequency and stronger in intensity. When this starts happening call your doctor or midwife.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Best wishes for you, your partner and your baby.

Regards

Nope , Definately not to early . Sometimes they start even before that , i guess it depends on the person. Having sex can make you have contractions, walking around to much will do the same , lifting heavy things , theres alot of things that can make them occur just be a little careful .

Could be braxton hicks contractions. It is practice contraction sessions for your body to prepare it for the real thing. If in doubt, always check with your midwife. Good luck!

No, you may be just experiencing Braxton Hicks. Understand that a baby can be ready for birth at any time and you due date may not always be consistant. So time you contractions and relax.

Braxton Hicks contractions are normal. They are irregular contractions. If you are having contractions that are regular & strong then this is not normal & you need to get yourself to a maternity hospital asap.
