Anything by Abba, the beatles, Chicago, Bread, The Carpenters is nice, melodic and mostly message-free. Beatles Pre 1966 of course, and anything by Paul McCartney & Wings.
If you have taste that has no sense of irony or lack of shame you need to enjoy listening to the above, try these: The Church, U2, Elbow, Slowdive, REM, (1987 to 1994), Tears for Fears, Ryan Adams, Keane, & Snow Patrol. That should keep you plenty busy.

Well, Green Day has some good songs without swearing, although the bulk of their songs do contain "bad words" ... so if you're just looking for individual songs, then:

Whatsername
Warning
Wake Me Up When September Ends
When I Come Around
Time of Your Life

I could name more, but I don't feel like thinking...

Anyway, if you like coldplay, check out Mobile or U2 ... maybe Keane? The Goo Goo Dolls are also good... REM, Jimmy Eat World, Matchbox 20...
