How far are you willing to travel and how much are you willing to spend? Sit down and discuss what plan is right for the moment and the pocket book. You didn't mention kids. So, I am assuming that either you don't have any or you are going to have someone special watch them? There have been some great suggestions made here, but of course it is all up to you two which one would best fit the moment.
Disney can be a great place to go for an anniversary; so can Universal Studios; so can Hot Springs; so can Las Vegas. Do you want theme park excitement or would you rather some quiet getaway that is more romantic? Bed and Breakfasts are really nice. A cruise for the two of you would be great too! There are numerous things to do. It is just a matter of putting together a plan that fits.
No matter your decision; I wish you a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Have lots of fun and enjoy each other to the fullest and start planning for the 15th or 20th year anniversary!

Disney, a cruise. My friends got a hotel at the beach for 3 days here in Daytona, ( and they live in Daytona) did things they have always wanted to do but never had time for. They did the NASCAR experience, went parasailing, played mini golf and did the haunted ghost walk in Saint Augestine and went deep sea fishing. They had a wonderful time alone away from the kids.

Compare and contrast what you both do and don't like. Sun, snow, water. You can take a cruise and get a lot of places for one price. You can go to an island and sun it up. The cruise to Alaska is GREAT, warm in the summer contrary to popular belief. Wherever you go all that matters is that you enjoy each others company.

Do you like history? There are a lot of presidents old homes around the Richmond VA area. Also, there is Williamsburg and Jamestown. You could even do a day or overnight trip to Washington DC.

Are you guys planning to do more.... than each other???
If not, just go to the cheapest motel you can find!
If you want to enjoy yourselves, go to Disney World. There's tons to see and do. You can even buy wedding Mickey/ Minnie stuff to commemorate the date!
