My mom just got a guinea pig from her friend and right now she's like not moving hardly at all and we thought she was just sleeping, but it's liek she ain't hardly moving or hardly breathing. The former owners didn't even have a cage for her and let her run around freely and we don't know if this is normal for a guinea pig. Anyone know anything about this? Cause my mom is really upset hoping she's not dying..

If this happens you should always go to a vet first!

guinea pigs are nocturnal and are more active at night . You can get them to be awake for part of the day by changing the sleep habits.

You should have a cage for them , even if its small. They like a place to build a nest to sleep in and have their food.

They dont live a long time so it might have been very old .

better luck if you get another one .

i had guinea pigs for years well they wre my brothers. i'm sorry to hear that yours died. the oneswe had died a few years ago. if u decided to get another, take it to the vet for a check up first. and i know thats ur mom friends but they really shouldn't have let it run around not in a cage. guinea pigs can't eat everything cause it can make them sick and running round the house loose, who knows what they ate. again i'm sorry. i hope u get a another one cause they are get pets.

A guineapig that's not pooping or urinating is in extreme undertaking and desires a vet ASAP!! GP's are like farm animals and "graze"/consume continuously so it comes out the different end in basic terms as quickly. The not shifting is signs and indications of ailment or extreme discomfort and it sounds like your pig will desire antibiotics and a motility drug to get issues shifting lower back. good success!
