Its not fun at all. It is cold and sometimes hurts. You feel really exposed since the doctor is between your legs with a light right on your personals. There is often times a nurse in the room right behind the doctor, so you not only have one person looking at you, you have two. The doctor is examining you and that is uncomfortable which makes you tense up. Tensing up causes the procedure to be even more uncomfortable. The whole procedure is not painful but it does hurt when the doctor examines your ovaries. He or she will insert a finger or two and touch your ovaries while pressing down the outside of your abdomen. This can send shocking pains into your stomach. Its just not a fun thing to have to do but it is necessary for your health. Make sure to tell the doctor your concerns and let him or her know if you are in pain. They will ease your nerves and do the best they can to make you as comfortable as possible.

When your doctor inserts a speculum inside of you it does not hurt because the doctor puts lubrication on it and you to help with insertion. No!!, it does not turn me on. Yes!! it is alittle cold.

It is not as bad as you may think. Before you know it is over. The worst part for me is the light that they use to see inside of you warms you inside and you may feel like you have to pee, but this will pass.

Having a pap smear is not a horrrible nightmare like you may have heard. It is over so fast. The worst feeling you may feel is the little brush they use to scrape your uterus.

You should be proud of yourself for inquiring about a pap smear. You owe it to yourself to have an annual pap smear to keep your reproduction system healthly.

If you have large fears, ask your doctor if someone you trust like your mom or aunt can be in the room with you during. I had my mom with me during my first pap smear.

Well it doesn't usually hurt unless the doctor puts it in at the wrong angle. No it's not a turn on at all, if anything it's actually the opposite of that. And yes it is cold.

It should not hurt -- it may not feel all that comfortable, but it shouldn't cause actual pain. It may be cold, but even that is really not that much of a big deal (and many doctors now warm it up a bit first).

I can't imagine it ever turning anybody on, though. There's really nothing sexy about a doctor's office, or about a pelvic exam in general.

Your doc should always run it under warm water so that it's not cold! There are different sizes, too; they won't use an enormous one for a younger woman. I generally find the whole process slightly unpleasant, but not too bad. The key is to try to relax the vaginal muscles, if you can do that it's a lot less uncomfortable.

Its really flat metal so I don't find that it hurts or arouses me, I am pretty sure my doctor also puts lubricate on it. I guess cold and maybe a little uncomfortable is how I would describe it!

If your dr .is considerate she/he should use a plastic speculum or at least warm a metal one under running water .. not exciting !! Just a bit strange...!!!
