You are having them. You just don't feel them. Braxton-hicks contractions are your body's way of "toning" up your uterus, it gives it practice runs before you really need it.
Some women don't feel them at all. But they are happening. Maybe your contractions during real labor wont be so bad after all! :) lol, Just kidding, I don't know it that is true :)

Braxton hicks are just "practice contractions" and not all women have them (or notice them)
You probably are having little tiny contractions since you are at 40 weeks. The early contractions serve to thin your cervix and begin dilation. I remember going in for a check up at 38 weeks and my OB did an internal exam (joy of joys) and told me I was having contractions! I couldn't feel a thing!!
Unfortunately, once the REAL contractions kick in...you can be sure you will notice them :)

You in general have had them during your whole being pregnant, however did not believe them, or they happened so much in general whilst you have been energetic or asleep. Braxton-Hicks aren't a trademark in any respect of whilst your hard work will begin. They are with ease your frame's means of stretching and gearing up for exact hard work. I'm 22 weeks pregnant, and feature been experiencing them very more often than not considering the fact that the 18th week. It does not imply I'm going to have a untimely child, it with ease approach my frame is getting ready for whilst I will provide in approximately 18 weeks.

Every woman is different. Just sit back, relax, and just enjoy what little person is about to join your family/life! It's amazing. Some women don't even exprience Braxton Hick's. Some do and don't even know what they are.

It could be that you just aren't noticing them. I didn't notice them either, at first, though by the time I got to the forty week mark, I hurt so bad everywhere else they didn't even register on my pain-meter. If you haven't felt any, don't worry about it...as long as the baby has been growing and moving normally, its not a big deal. Good luck to you.

It's perfectly normal. Every pregnancy is different. I never had any kind of contractions until hours after my water broke. Good luck! You're going to be a mom any day now!

oh yes, especially if its your first. During my first pregnancy I was due 7/15/05, it was 7/22 and still nothing. My little pookah just refused to come out, the doc said it was ok so but scheduled me for induction on 7/25/07 ironically I gave birth 7/24/05 the day before I was to be induced! Beware of back pains I thought my back pain was just that but I was actually in labor
