"Noises Off" by Michael Frayn. It is hysterical! It is what started my interest in theatre.

I direct plays at a high school also and the biggest laughs i have ever got was a play called an evening of culture. it is set in a small southern town and the local crew decides to put on romeo and Juliet. i did it for a festival in the winter and three schools chose it as their spring play that same year. Its smart(the way they butcher romeo and juliet) and also gives the kids a chance to work with accents if you are not from the south. If you are from the south just switch it to a northern town. good luck

My high school just did The Foreigner! It was great. I love You Can't Take It With You, The Odd Couple, Blithe Spirit and Hayfever. (I really like Noel Coward) My favorite Shakespearean comedies include Comedy of Errors and Twelth Night.
Good luck!

As you can tell from the variety of answers, humor is very subjective. What one person screams and falls down laughing at, will cause a serious case of the yawns in someone else. What amazes me is that even after you mentioned "The Foriegner", no one has suggested that you check out "The Nerd". It is also by Larry Shue.

'Three Funny Plays', by Tania Roxborogh.
" All three plays would have immediate appeal to teenage audiences:- fast-moving, clear build to a climax and clear-cut characters. Each play could be simply and effectively staged at the front of a classroom, and the dialogue is easy to read, and would be straight-forward to learn. "

It really depends on your audience and who you're going to use... but with some modification (women running around in teir underwear) you could work Noises Off into something that's guarenteed a laugh. It may be tough in a high school setting though. :(

avenue Q is SOO funny! But...it's not apropriate for a high school at all...haha.
I would suggest Rumors if you are looking for a play and maybe Company is you want a musical. For a play, anything by Niel Simon is funny and quite witty. Good luck!

Hah! The Foreigner! That's great!
How about "A Flea in Her Ear"?
(But it involves suspected infidelity and tons of misunderstandings)
