It's a lot easier to just search for the answer yourself on google or something but here's a website for ya, oh and also I've seen soap kits at Michael's and I'm sure any other craft store would have them as well.

First of all, you need glycerin, otherwise the soap is insufficient. I got a soap pack, that you can make a while back. It was pretty good... here's the name: "Curiosity Kits: Natural Soap Making." It is petty easy and fun. I gave all of my friends this gift, well the soap, after i made it. It was a good kit to use.

I think cook wood ashes and pig fat. There are a lot of more modern ways, but the results are the same. The alkali in ashes are modulated by the glycerin in the lard. Alkali makes the water soft, that means it lowers the surface tension and lets the water remove the dirt. The glycerin makes it thicker and keeps the alkali from drying the skin.
