Why do there seem to be so few university fraternities and sororities in Canada? I've heard rumours that some sort of frat hazing scandal at the U of A in the 1930s ruined things? Can anybody tell me?

I think Canadian culture is just a lot different than US culture... it's really more an American thing. Why do we need to label ourselves and create groups that promote inclusion of only those who are like-minded? You can just as easily buy/rent a big house and put out a posting for roomates. If a frat houst is what you want, you can do it yourself. I don't think it is something a University should promote.
