truthfully i would have to say no... if you met the person on-line you don't truly know them, and while it may seem hard to believe it is very doubtful that all they have said is the truth, they could in fact be predators. for a fun little fling(i never understood it but if you like it) it could be OK, but it is very unlikely to make it. for one you truly don't know the person, how they interact with others, or anything about them other then what they have told you. a big part of relationships is trust, usually built by experiences together. ..... ... in conclusion i just have to say that it is unlikely that it will last, and meeting the person face to face is dangerous and such.........(just a safety hint thought you probably have herd it, if you do decide to meet the person, which seems a bad idea to me, make it during the day in a public place and not near where you live, and tell someone about it)................................................... if you meant a long distance relationship and you know the person, its actually very unlikely it will last as well but it can happen

It can. But there are so many things that can go wrong, when you are dealing with long distance relationships that the odds are really stacked against you.
Until you live with someone for a while and learn what and who they are, you just don't know what you are getting into.
There is a harsh reality that is waiting to show its ugly face and unless you got a tremendous amount of love between both of you, there will be catastrophe.

***NO, BECAUSE ABSENCE DOSEN'T ALWAYS MAKE THE HEART GROW FONDER. SOMETIMES IT'S A CASE OF OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND. HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS NEED LOTS OF QUALITY TIME. IT'S EASY TO BE ANYONE YOU WANT TO BE ONLINE, BUT THAT'S REALLY NOT AN AFFECTIVE WAY TO GET TO KNOW SOMEONE. WHEN YOU SPEND A GOOD AMOUNT OF TIME WITH SOMEONE, YOU WILL FIND THAT THEY AREN'T ALWAYS THE PERSON YOU THOUGHT THEY WERE. ONLINE, YOU DON'T SEE THE SHORTCOMINGS AND INDIOSINCRICIES. ONLINE, PEOPLE CAN PORTRAY THEMSELVES AS BEING ALMOST PERFECT, BUT IT'S NOT UNTIL YOU ARE AROUND THEM THAT YOU SEE JUST HOW IMPERFECT THEY REALLY CAN BE. I TEND TO STAY AWAY FROM LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS, BECAUSE EVEN UNDER THE BEST OF CIRCUMSTANCES, THE DISTANCE ALONE CAN TEAR YOU APART.***

it depends on the two people involved and whether or not they're willing to put forth equal effort to make it work. 4-5 states away is small potatoes compared to what other obstacles some deal with.

I don't think so. You need to be around the person frequently to know the real person. I have never heard of an online relationship working.

yes they can, I lived in missouri and moved to cali to be with my fiance, we are currently going to get married april 8th, in about two weeks, dont give up hope, but do be careful, too many weirdos out there... always meet in public for first time and have a way to go home right away or soon if needed... good luck and i wish happiness to both of you.
