If you are having morning sickness it my be due to dehydration or constipation. I had horrible side cramps when I was pregnant and I went to the doctor and it was just constipation which is very common during pregnancy. If you are concerned I would just talk to your doctor to make sure everything is ok.

I had cramps around the same time even up until 8 weeks
I was very worried and I went to the hospital. I was told
that this is normal that the uterus is growing and it is normal
to have cramping. If the cramps are severe with bleeding
I would go in ASAP. Try to relax if there is not bleeding
and if morning sickness kicks in that is a great great sign
of those hormones that make the egg stick to the uterus.
First baby?

Call the hospital and ask them. You shouldn't be having any cramping (severe) until you go into labor. If you start to bleed at all along with the cramping go into the E.R. and get looked at. Cramping isn't normal if it is bad, a little cramping is alright because it could be your uterus stretching.

Good Luck and I hope everything goes good.

As long as there is no heavy bight red blood, followed by clots and painful cramping. The cramping your having might just be your body getting ready for the baby.

i know what you mean. when i was around 5 weeks, i had the same thing happen. they were surprising and i just about starting freaking out cuz i didn't know what they were or if i was miscarrying. but it turned out that it was completely normal. it's just the uterus growing bigger to make room for the baby and such. i started to rub my belly when i had them which sorta helped the pain. but relaxing was the biggest thing that helped. don't worry too much. do some reading - there's plenty of websites out there to get info from and you also have your doc to talk to. just ask questions and don't be afraid if it's tmi. they understand and can be professional about it. good luck and congrats!!!!

As long as theres no blood accompanied by the cramping, you should be fine. This is completely normal throughout the first trimester.

Good Luck

If the cramps feel like they're thight squeezing, then it might be a problem. But your uterus is probably expanding...that feels painful, but it always felt like it was cramping outward to me. Best of luck to you!
