I have never heard a single scientist validate this number and most say it is way off, that the true percentage is probably at least 50% or more. So where did this idea come from?

in fact i have heard scientists who say that true number is at least 95%

it came from science and science did a test where they hooked a man and woman up to a ccg and then had them do various activities from hard tests to easy chores and the results where that the max % uses was only ten and this was mesured by the amount of blood sent to a specific area that is being used and only 10% was high in blood albert einstien only used 16% of his brain I guess that shows how much 1% in a brain can really make

We use 100% of our brains.
The idea came from some idjit who was told that the cells in the brain were 90% glial cells and 10% neurons (which is true). That information was taken out of context and distorted, et voila, the birth of a dumb urban legend.

There was information out on this just the other day-we happen to use all 100% of our brain but for various things: like taste , touch, etc. senses. That notion was started many years ago and it is still debated who started it.

Well.Although my mother used to be a teacher of biology...I never heard her talking in the favour of science.Besides, one of the apostoles of Jesus asked us..to give up the science of this time .because is not true.They said the war is not against our flash..(meaning also our ''cells ..heredity..instinctuality.''.what seems to be wrong)..they said the war is against the demons..who walk in the air ..So it results .''.instinct ''does not exist..It is either God or a demon..and our free will..the power of choosing..
I also did my high-school in a chemistry-biology speciality..and I can say..according to what the teacher presented us..there is no proof for nothing..like this..It is just a suposition based on a materialistic point of view. the materialist phylosophers..thought matter has the power ..and generates mind....which acctually only God has.mind and power...But there is no proof for nothing..we cannot see how a cell makes us speak..we cannot see what a gene contains..it is just suposition ..and acctually there are also kind of scientists who deny the influence of heredity over someones's education..and aptitudes..while other kind of scientist ..support the influence of heredity through genes over a child.
I go with the idea that a man is free and take good education from God in mind..and others from around, or bad education ..from around and later from the devil..which has been mentioned several times in very important situations....revealing ..actually large sciences..and knowledge over society and behaviour of people ,also in Old Testament.
What a man does ..is too complicated to be done by a piece of meat ..the brain..Actually everything a man does ..comes from the spirit..(the body from inside..having mind from God, and powers from God..)..and also..is coordonated by God ...all the time..as mind is..
Even from last centuries..there was a fight between idealist philosophers who went close to Bible ..and materialist philosophers..who went close to some like Darwin and others..
It is your mind at work..to decide if you want to base your truth on Bible or on men....
I personally believe that this is not important..what cells we use ..brain etc..anyway..
I think that it is important to use your whole reason..when you marry..and choose your spouse..e.g..'cos you can make mistakes..and the apostole of Jesus said ..that the man and his wife ..must be followers of Jesus Christ...and practically the followers of the true God, because Jesus was the eternal Son of God..and came to represent God..as He said ..that what He tells us ..He tells from His Father...who sent Him..

My opinion would be that cognitive conciousness only takes up 10% (or so) of our brains. The rest being functions taking place in involuntary areas of our body, like the lungs, heart, digestive track, and etc. The brain is still required for them to operate, but only so mch activity is required for our COGNITION of the world around us.
