The simple slang equivalent would be a "twister". However, a tornado occurring over water is also referred to as a "water spout".

Gustnado is a like tornado circulations. Cumulonimbus clouds many times spawns tornados yet in uncommon cases Cumulus clouds can spawn tornadoes and tornados can form cumuliform clouds. Cyclone is created by using the earth's spinning tilt.
