Ninja Scroll: The Series and the movie, Boogiepop Phantop, Ranma 1/2, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Shamploo, Great Teacher Onizuka, Golden Boy, Akira, Here is Greenwood, Perfect Blue, Outlaw Star, Vampire Hunter D, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Vampire Princess Miyu, X the Movie.
You should check all of these out. Some of them are for a more mature audience due to violence but they are all by really good anime artists.

Naruto is the best anime out there. The background music is excellent and the storyline is fantastic. Some events drag on for 5+ episodes, but overall it's a must watch anime.
Death Note is another fantastic anime. It was released in 2006 or something. It tells a story about a A+ student who finds a Notebook (Death Note) and finds out that when he pictures a person and writes their name in the book, the person will die by the written cause (if blank, a heart attack). The whole story revolves around this group of people led by someone named L, trying to find the killer aka Kira.
Full metal alchemist is another good one. It's about two Elric brothers, one lost his leg and arm and one lost his whole body by trying to get their mum back through the use of alchemy. They want to find the philosopher's stone to get their bodies back and on the way they find out many not-so-wonderful things about alchemy.
If you're into funny anime, check out Azumanga Daioh, Ouran High School Host Club and School Rumble 1 + 2.

Fav anime? I hope I'm not suppose to choose just one, 'cause that's really not possible. Let's see...
Naruto is one of my favorites, though the fact that they drag a lot of the episodes out forever gets a little annoying. Still, it's a good anime with a large range of characters and story lines.
Trinity Blood was good. If you're a fan of the vampire shows, chances are you'll like it. Even if you're not a vampire fan you may still like it.
But I can't forget Spiral or Bleach, both of them are good. Spiral, though, is a short series and some of the Bleach episodes, like Naruto, get dragged out. Both are still good though.
But then Fruits Basket holds a a special spot in my heart, even if I have to read the manga to find out the end. But then that might not be your kind of anime.
Er, I guess I should stop listing. Thing is, I watch to much anime and have a fairly long list of those I like.

Mine would be...
1. Slam Dunk (VERY FUNNY basketball anime, bishounen galore! I read the manga and watched all the episodes while I was in Asia, 4 DVDs released in America but currently on hiatus*sob*)
2. Prince of Tennis (DROOL-INDUCING tennis anime, full of bishounen too! I think first DVD will be released in April 2007)
3. Princess Nine (CUTE BUT HEART PUMPING ACTION baseball anime, great character development, DVDs were already released in America years ago but I couldn't seem to get them anywhere*sob again*)
The funny thing is, I don't even like sports at all and yet my favorite animes are all sports animes.

Full Metal Alchemist is my favorite anime and if if u have ever watched it u would know why, it has everything, a great story of two brothers trying to find what they have lost in both body and soul in their search, and the love they share for each other and their mother made me cry in one episode, and im a guy...
Rurouni Kenshin is very good also, and it is very enjoyable and light hearted to watch. But action is plentiful in this too but I just love the character of Kenshin. All these major characters of animes are wat I can relate to at some level or another. These two animes are in a league of their own, I highly recommend them.
Other great animes are Bleach (very cool), Naruto(gets good after episode 30 though), Love Hina (hilarious), Evangelion (kinda serious for me though), Onegai Teacher (for the teenage guy hehe ya kno wat i mean), and one of my favs that I really adore for all out fun DBZ baby u cant get better than Vegeta's character, the coolest character in the history of anime and Goku, who kiks superhero out of Spiderman and Superman anyday. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaa=== SSJ4 Gogeta.
You should also check out Berserk, and one that one of my friends really recommends Saikano (amazing new story).

My favorite anime is the one that I didn't suspect I would like so much, it's "Zatch Bell" or "Konjiki no Gash Bell" Don't be put off when you see reviews describing it as only for age 10 kids. It's not. I'm 39, and I love it.
