I was at my girlfriends house the other day and she was making sandwiches. I thought it was weird that she buttered both pieces of bread, her little brother came home from school and said he'd spoken to some people and they all buttered both pieces of bread. Am I the weird one for only buttering one piece?

If it's a PB sandwich, I put the PB on one piece then wipe the knife clean on the other, otherwise the only time I butter bread is for toast and grilled cheese, in which case ya kinda have to butter both sides.

I also butter both pieces of bread but may be you just do things your own way I'm sure your not the only one

You're not weird. The sandwich just tastes better with both pieces buttered. Or both pieces have mayo, depending on the type of sandwich.

When making a grilled cheese sandwich, I would butter both pieces of bread. Otherwise, I can't recall ever buttering both slices.
This would seem odd to me.. like spreading peanut butter on both slices of bread and adding jelly in between.
I do, however, apply mustard to both sides of a hot dog bun.

ewwwww - you guys put butter on a sandwich? Yucky - I mostly would use mayonnaise, mustard or some type of salad dressing then my filling -but never butter on a sandwich. If I was having a ham and cheese sandwich I would put mayonnaise (or miracle whip) on one piece of bread and mustard (Dijon or honey type) on the other piece. then ham cheese, tomato lettuce - maybe a few walnut or pecan pieces, some sliced grapes - I need something to eat-lol -k-

Normally both, but if you want to lose some weight it does save on calories to butter one piece only.
