i think its about a guy who understands that he wasnt good enough for a girl. and understands why hes not with her anymore.

To further eleborate on the answer preceeding this one, it seems that this boy was dating a very organized "no nonsense" type of girl and he was the same sort of "cut and dried" ordered kind of person. It was only after seeing where she lived that he realized that she hated the monotany of her life and although she liked the boy, she would rather have some one less like herself.
