Don't quite know except to start with a poor man's patent. Mail the recipe to yourself in a brown envelope and mask it so you can't see through the envelope. Then get a regular patent on the recipe. If someone claims that you stole their recipe then you can reveal the unopened patent with the dated postmark on front. Very useful, my friend did the poor man patent for song lyrics.
