Country Club?
Has anyone worked at a Country Club before? What was your experience? Your job? How much did you get paid? Where you treated badly by the members?

I'm thinking about getting a job at a Country Club as a server in the dining hall and a member of the banquet staff for private parties.

I'm wondering how much money I will make. Do rich people tip well?

OK, I belong to a country club. You will NOT get any personal tip in the banquet hall, because the tip is literally added to the bill. You shuld receive one, but it will not vary by your service.

Don't you believe those answers. It is not true and sounds like a customers point of view. Just because the gratuity has already been determined does not mean that there will not be a bonus! Often in my experience, there is.
Yes. between $600 & $1500/week depending on the season. That's an average of $1050 per week.
No I was not treated badly. Those clients were my livelyhood and I respected everyone of them. All I did was server them well, anticipate their needs, respect them and most importantly, know my stuff and leave them not lacking any services.
Did I put up with guff? NO.
I let them subtelely know (without having to verbalize) that I was knowlegeable, capable and dedicated to their pleasures.
In a country club setting no matter whom your clients are the gratuity is included in the service BUT, it doesn't stop at 18%.
If you are an expert at your job you can make up to 27% of your net sales in tips.
Is it hard work? You bet. Long hours and a lot of things to do other than just taking an order and bringing a plate to the table. It takes a good memory, expert knowledge about the ingredients of the food you are serving and willingness to work long hours. Remember, you aren't finished until your guests are, and then you have to clean up too.
And flirting is not necessary, they did not come for that and you won't earn any more that they would ordinarily tip anyway.

I have worked in the Country Club business for over ten years and can tell you that the majority of the members are very nice. They got where they are by knowing how to deal with people. I started out at the bottom and am now an event planner/Banquet manager. The pay in my experience was very good. The tip is usually a set amount, such as 16.5%, and is added automatically to the bill. Some clubs allow for extra tipping, some don't. Most dont deal in cash so you would recieve a paycheck instead of daily tips. The big advantage to working at a club is knowing your clientel. You will learn their names, kids names, allergies, favorite foods. All of this will provide a familiar atmosphere that I loved. One last note, If you take the time to be friendly with the members, you may find them offering you their services. I know employees who got unbelievable prices on cars, homes, tickets taken care of, free law advice, etc.... Good luck.

You do not get tipped at a banquet or as a server in a dinner hall. If you want to work as a waitress at a restaurant, then you will get tips.
