I may need a whole new engine...what is the price for that about?

I know this isn't a direct answer, but if you haven't already thought of it, try calling your local junk yard (*ahem* AUTO SALVAGE YARD) gotta be politically correct.
They prob have 15 of those waiting for someone. My advice, if you're replacing the 3.1 L, opt for the 3.8 L More power & better mileage at the same time. If I had to guess prob between $1000-1500, depending. If you know someone that can do the install, prob $500-900 for the engine.

i own a shop,and it depends on if you go new or used on it,a good used one labor and all will be around 1000 bucks,a new one will be more like around two grand or better,so id go with a good used low mileage one,its a lot cheaper,and will last as long,good luck with it i hope this helps.
