Well first of all the technology available to students today is amazing. If a teacher assigned a report that meant me going to the library finding an encyclopedia making photocopies then typing it on a word processor. Today a student could probably go online and get the info in seconds. Also schools today are more violent. I can't remember any school shootings in the 80's. Today metal detectors and security guards wit cameras are more common.

You are talking about 27 years ago. I'm sure almost everything has changed. They are using laptops in the classes and a lot of their book are read from them. The sports are somewhat the same; but everything is bigger and better. The rules are different about some things. There are more drugs and smoking and the dating is way different. There's probably more pressure on the kids today. Everything moves faster, etc.

I'm in High School right now and the classes have changed drastically. We now have AP (Advanced Placement) classes for freshmen, in my Chem class we take tests on these remotes with screens, we have camera's everywhere, no smoking, and I think teachers standards for students have been set lower while the states standards have been set higher.
