There's no reason to be afraid. I didn't have a period for 8 months and there was no way I could be pregnant. In fact, I was thrilled, but my mom, who was a nurse, said that I needed to have it looked at because it could be something--or nothing. I don't think I'd been to the gyno before or if I had been, it was only once--and I was already 28 years old or around there. The doctor checked things out and told me that it would come back when I wanted it to come back. I told him that it would come back sooner than that and it did. The moment I gave back my "lucky pad" to someone in need, I got it. (I called it lucky because as long as I carried it, I didn't get it. lol)

I'm trying to be amusing to lighten things up a bit. The doctor won't hurt you and it's probably nothing more than stress. (I had just started the most stressful job in my life.) If it is something, it's better that you find out what it is and do something about it rather than let it get worse. Really, though, it's probably nothing, but you need to know. I'd go with you myself if I could. Get a friend to sit by you while you make an appointment and get her to go with you.

Sometimes lifestyle factors such as stress and weight loss can affect your menstrual cycle. If you have lost a signifcant amount of weight or undergone stressful changes in your life that can alter your cycle drastically. I do suggest you go and see a doctor to check it out.

The worst you can do is nothing, and that's exactly what you're doing. Put your fears to rest and see a doctor, at least for peace of mind. Good luck.

Your category is "trying to conceive", looks like you did. You do not have a choice, you have to go see a doctor as soon as possible, because it seems that there is a good chance you may be pregnant, and, while you can neglect yourself, you can not neglect a baby.
