Whats the difference between a parole officer and a probation officer

probation officer for probation (conviction but no jail time)
parole officer for parole (early release from jail)

A Probation Officer takes those persons that the court sends to them directly from the court. A Parole Officer takes care of those persons that are released from prison.

A parole officer is someone who checks on people who have been in jail a long time (usually a felony). A probation officer is someone who checks on people that have served very short periods of time in jail, usually not after they have been bonded or released after the court and are serving probation instead of jail time.
