batista will remain a face and a fan favourite. the changes in taker's and his characters are necessary to tell a better story in the ring and to make the feud a little more realistic...
if taker wins, i don't think wwe will allow the feud to carry on... batista will have other heels to deal with... perhaps a program with finlay or kennedy... but taker will be the top dog and a program with say, king booker...
smackdown doesn't have a lot of faces... it's not logical to turn a face to another heel...

batista has been a heel, then he turned on Triple H, and became the fan favorite! It is nothing new for a favorite wrestler to turn heel from time to time....Example...Roddy Piper, Hulk Hogan, and even The Undertaker has been a heel, then a fan favorite, then a heel again!
It all depends on how the fans take the change that desides if a superstar will keep his new persona, or change back!
If Batista does turn, it really won't matter, because his true fans will stay with him long after the persona has left!

Batista and cena may be faces but Michela sand Taker are legends and the fans will always cheer for the legends, so you can expect at WM23 for batista and Cena to get bood out the building and frankly, there is nothing WWE can do to change it, because even if Taker or HBK go heel fans will still cheer for them. Like they did with Ric Flair.
