You must look at it from the family's perspective. If you had a relative that had so much controversy surrounding their death, wouldn't you want to know how or why they died in order to lay the other conspiracy theories to rest, no pun intended?

Also, to clarify, his nephew, or great nephew, wants to have the body exhumed to clarify whether he was poisoned, thus murdered, by the group of people called "Spiritualists" who claimed to be able to commune with the dead in seances and the like, OR, if he truly died from a ruptured appendix suffered from a punch to the stomach. A lot of people don't think he died from it because of how good a shape he was in for that period of time.

The reason he's being exhumed is to find out if he was truly killed by a blow to the abdomen, or if he was poisoned. If he was murdered, I don't think it was due to someone from the 1920's psychic hotline who got mad. I think it was probably another magician who was jealous of his success, or maybe a relative who thought he/she could gain from his death.

If I were a murder victim, I would want people to know and find my killer. If people thought I was murdered and I wasn't...I'd want that cleared up too. Lets hope Houdini gets his justice, either way.

The whole getting in touch with the dead thing...

It is said that Harry Houdini and his wife had agreed that if ever one was to die, they would try and contact the other from beyond the grave, whether they succeeded in this who knows...?

But i think that once someone is dead, leave them be... next they will be digging up past presidents to see if they were murdered and pehaps whether things could have been better had they not been!

In his later years Houdini campaigned against mind readers, mediums, and others who claimed supernatural powers. He argued that they were charlatans who produced all of their effects through natural means and various tricks. He wrote Miracle Mongers and Their Methods (1920) and A Magician Among the Spirits (1924). Houdini and his wife, however, agreed to conduct an experiment in spiritualism: the first to die was to try to communicate with the survivor. His widow declared the experiment a failure before her death in 1943.

Lets say he was murdered...I am fairly confident that his murderer is now dead from old age; so my basic thought is - why disturb the body now, what will it really prove. Leave him be...that is my thought.
