Jay C would be correct. Plyometrics are the best thing you can do without fancy parachutes and rubber bands that attach to the floor. Simplify, running with a parachute is not a natural football motion. Getting in a good football "hit position" and bringing your hips through and jumping on top of a 36 inch box or wall without making a noise when you land is control. Now do that 10 times as fast as you can. Id start with a smaller object first. Watch your shins though. Also, its old school but theres nothing better for footwork than jumping rope.

I would probably suggest using those big rubber band type things on a belt and attach on the ground. Then jump ten times as high as you can with that resistance. This will help your jump and explosiveness in general. This is kind of a weird idea, but I'm taking Tae Kwan Do to help with my balance and core strength, its a great workout. This will help you with explosiveness though consistently learned through kicks and punches and should improve you as an athletic whole.

do stadiums (stairs) with a 45 lb bar, and do bleachers with the bar to work on explosiveness, an run around the track with the 45 lb bar for quickness

Speed drills - mostly small sprints. Doing them on hills helps too, but its easier to get injured that way too.
Plyometrics - anything and everything that include jumping and stairs
Cleans - the best lift you can do to improve your explosiveness

They make parachutes or weighted sleds that will increase your speed. Talk to your coaches, they can help you out with that. That is what they are paid for.

start including running uphill, up stairs, or if possible against the wind with a parachute, into your workout routine.

it depends on what sport you are playing.... for football you should use Resistance training to increase your time and for explosiveness you should do cleans and stairs.....
