I want to buy an all in one printer, the ones with the fax, scanner, and printer together. I only have one land line phone line and I want to make use of the fax machine only occasionally, not even everyday. Do I need a separate fax line for this anyway? What if I were only to send faxes, and not receive them at all, would I still need one.

Also, if you have a recommendation on one, let me know.

For incoming faxes you can get efax. For the out going, you can get a switch. The switch has 2 buttons. 1 for the phone, 1 for the fax. I couldn't find the 1 I got at Radio Shack for about $20US. Also efax, it says "Where do you want your US number". That shouldn't mater, because you don't get a phone number that rings in. You get the faxes in your email as attachments. I use my efax number on my outgoing number. Here is the link--->http://www.efax.com/en/efax/twa/page/homePage?CMP=OTC-us_mi

I have a Hewlett Packard officejet 4215 all-in-one, has a printer, scanner, copier, and fax. Uses only the one phone line.

No you don't.

I have a modem, a fax machine, and a cordless phone on the same line, no problem sharing at all.
