I have replaced hundreds of sets of brake shoes, pads, and entire systems. Of course there is going to be some sounds; friction is what stops you. All sound comes from friction, therefore, most friction will create a sound. Rear shoes are adjusted to be in contact (ever so slightly) with the rear drum. If you do not hear new noises after having a brake job done, take it back.
You are supposed to hear something, however as the pads wear in it should go away. The fact that you only hear it when the window is down, tells me the mechanic did a FINE job. The true test is this: While traveling straight and forward at about fifty miles per hour, maintain speed and let go of the wheel. Is there a change? Next, same scenerio: apply the brakes evenly, does the vehicle pull to either side. If both answers are no, your all set. If the car does pull have it checked out.

I've heard this alot of times and usually it depends on how much noise and for how long. I would not let it go on past a week though. Brakes sometimes have to adjust and the noise then stops. If you properly claen the brakes and use the lubricant in the proper places and resurface your rotors you usually will have no problems.

like high wire said most cars will make some noise. were they installed by a professional? were front rotors resurfaced? brake pads come with (lube) as most people call it howerver it is really a type of adhesive to secure the pads to caliper and piston to avoid vibration upon braking. that vibration is audible to the human ear as a squeaking noise.

I just had my brakes check today for the same thing. I bought this use about 4 months ago.The mechanic told me that my pads were new but that if cheap pads were put on then they will squeak, for thirty bucks he put some type coating on them so it would stop and it did. Find out what brand they put on your car. And if they were cheap ones them your brakes will squeak. I would make them put better brakes on the car.

There should not be any noise!! It sounds like when they installed the brake pads they were a little "********" which would not only make noise when appling the brakes but will cause your pads to wear more on one section than the other causing them the wear out WAYY faster than normal. I would take it back asap and have them reposition the pads.

That's pretty common with the installations that I've had. A lot of the time they get dust on them and it takes a little while to get it all worked out. If it last for more than say 4 weeks, have them take another look at it.

if you can here the brakes move than they need adjustment in the back they should move just a hair. if they make a clicking sound they are loose. if its a grinding then they are not put on right. have them inspect the brakes and fix them at no charge.

Your brake pads are probably the semi-metallic type, metallic being the key word. to lower pollution brake asbestos has been replaced with metal flakes. why I don't know, why some make noise and so don't I don't know. sometimes a chemical treatment helps, sometimes they have to be broken in. sometimes it gets louder or quieter. or you might have to have just live with it.

that is very common. don't worry about it. It's just new brakes. If it persists after the first 500 miles have them adjust them and use brake squeal on it it should go away.

What kind of noise? Some friction noise is normal since the EPA outlawed asbestos pads a decade ago. The modern pads have metal chucks in them. Since then everyone's been complaining about squeaky brakes. Duh! Asbestos rocks!!
