The answers so far are partially right.
Four-wheel low engages all four wheels and should only be used for extreme bogs and at low speed.
Four-wheel high engages both axles but the wheels will turn like a limited-slip. In other words, the least traction tire will spin on both axles.
Either option should only be used at low speed.

4 low lets you climb a mountain and probably has a top speed of 25 miles an hour. Try it and you'll see.

low gears are for climbing hills etc and hi are for normal use...do you have a manual??..you shouldd read it
