why would anyone in their right mind think that a one world government would be a good idea?

I am one of the few who believe it could work but a complete overhaul of society would have to occur. Mainly we would have to get off of our crutch that we have used for so many years to make everything better.....

Yeah thats right...Religion.

Can you even fathom the number of deaths that have come from and still occur daily all based on religion?

Ok lets drift off for a minute on a fairy tale ride to a possible future.

The UN (or a group such as) is empowered with a supreme court like jurisdiction over the world and becomes the main governing body with national leaders as part of a grand council. Nations start working together for the betterment of humanity and start taking advantage of the huge scientific and medical breakthroughs that are occurring daily. Without the threat of war, ALL nuclear weapons are disposed of thus ended one of the greatest threats to human extinction. The billions (trillions?) of dollars spent worldwide on the research and creation of war could be put to a near infinite number of uses.

Personally I can see the pros. Can't you?

Can we really consider ourselves the most advanced species if we let something like religion stop this from ever happening?

Please, please, please put your bible or Koran or whatever down and actually take a look around you. Educate yourself, we don't need invisible little men in the sky to explain things anymore. Come to grips with your own humanity and embrace it.

Sorry for the rant, it was a long time a coming. Now I imagine its time to burn the heretic....Let the flames begin!

Because they are power hungry. If someone suggests an idea, aren't they usually the ones that end up in charge?? The point is, the idea of government is a viable one. Protecting everyone from threats and having thier rights violated. But the question you have to ask yourself is, is OUR government's "idea" of rights different from someones in Austraila or China? Yes. One World government would solve for peoples rights being violated. Which would in theory lead to world peace. But as it is only an idea....and not a well thought out one...it couldn't happen. Wouldn't we need a global police force?? And wouldn't that one government be in charge of handling different religious views and cultural differences? The Point is....a government controlling the entire world is doomed to failure. Personal beliefs will always be different, and nothing will change that. The Al-Quida think the Americans are of the Devil, nothing will change their view, and in their "belief", Americans should die. Personal differences, and all sorts of other details that make humans what we are, won't matter anymore as long as the mandated governmental "rights" we are given are protected. And they can use that to thier advantage too. Read George Orwell's book "1984", it explains all about "Big Brother."
Government controls all for their version of peace.
In the end with one world government, we will all but human. We will be slaves of the state. So the last question that you have to ask yourself is, will being a slave and being protected better than being in danger at all times and having the fear of a government that doesn't protect? But atleast you are free?

An Idea won't turn into anything but failure if it has to do with government. Any example of ANY government can be used. Including the US. We aren't the perfect nation we say we are. And in the end, we will be all blown up or given numbers like the Jews in Nazi Germany so we can get on a plane. In my personal opinion, Be apart of the human race...not a citizen of a controlling power. No group would be strong enough to take down the US, even though it is our right to take down a government that we don't like. The US has control over everything, and whatever it doesn't, we go to war with. And end up controlling it anyway. The US has become too dangerous. And it is our RIGHT to take it down.

I say we go to war before one world government takes over.

Besides, we are America. We wouldn't be subject to the One World Government because they would just be a bunch of communists.

I have no idea. I know I wouldn't go for it. Besides, it would be impossible unless the government is ruled by a person representing each country all working together. Like that will ever happen.
