You want to halter break her ASAP. you want to get her used to you being around her, brushing, her touching her, leading her, etc. If you're showing her through an Ag class program be sure to have your teacher help you out as much as possible. You'll need to make sure she's used to being clipped also. You'll need to talk to someone an ask about the right types of pellets, cubes, or sweet feed you need to give her to help her develop muscle and all for shows.

Put your heifer in a large pen with plenty of green grass. Feed her fresh hay, and oats (similar to oat meal), give her a LOT of clean fresh water, plenty of love and attention.
