I just had my two month checkup and my baby has the exact same thing! Not umbilical but above it. The doctor said it should clear up and it doesn't hurt her. Her's sounds exactly like what you said. He said there was a chance for surgery if it doesn't go away by the time she is one but it will probably clear up by her four month appt.

My son just had that. I took him to Children's Hospital in Wisconsin (raided the third best hospital in USA.) I was told by the Doctors there that it genially doesn't take care of its self and should be fixed. It becomes like that wile still in the mother's womb. there is an opening that is suppose to close its self wile still in mom but sometimes it doesn't. If left unfixed the intestines could get pinched and start to die off this can be very dangerous for the baby and would result in more detailed and lengthy surgery. Every thing went very well and my son and I were treated excellent. If you have a Children's Hospital near you I strongly suggest you take your baby there for a second opinion. The doctors there are the top of there field and work together to help the children. it will give you piece of mind because they make sure you know all you need to know and leave with no questions left to ask. My son is much more happy now and I rest allot easier knowing there's no more problem. There is little to no scaring and it healed really quick. It's better to be safe then sorry. Good luck.
