as its in milan, it showcases mainly the italian designers (armani, prada, dolce & gabbana, blumarine, bottega veneta, pucci, moschino, fendi, costume national, dsquared...the list goes on and on...) and has very wearable clothing (contrasted w/ paris, for example, which is more avant garde)
its is also the 3rd big week in fashion, preceded by new york and london (which really isnt AS big). therefore, many fashion editors and buyers descend in milan around that time. (for photos, go to: http://www.style.com/peopleparties/street/100306)
and there are also photos of the shows at http://www.style.com/fashionshows/, the latest being fall 07.
PS: i found a list of shows in milan (i know i missed a lot): http://nymag.com/fashion/fashionshows/
hope it helps!
