No, because I think it was a perfect role for Keanue Reeves because their was so many similarity between him and his character. I think the movie was perfect the way it is. Besides, the first one was the most interesting one. I can't picture Will Smith as Neo.

The Matrix was popular? News to me. Keanu Reeves acts like a stick man, all stiff and jerky. I don't think the color of the actor would make a bit of difference. Lets talk about Keanu's skill as an actor and Will Smith would beat him every time in every roll. Color isn't important.

I heard they had wanted Will Smith to do it but he turned it down to do Wild Wild West. But I don't know about the popularity of the movie changing. So many variables to consider.
Would Jada have still been in it? Would they have change Laurens Fishburn's character to a white man so there wouldn't be too many black lead character's?
We'll never know.

are you trying to stir up some racist controversy or do you just like will smith? I can think of a dozen movies that i would have casted differently, if i had the POWER to do so. I can also think of a dozen popular high tech films where the lead character was a black man.

if it was will smith, yes... because he has a huge following, and dont forget that there were many clack actors in the film. I personally think Keanu Reeves is not that good of an actor, and isnt that popular (except to women) so I think will would have been a better choice!

Maybe...it wasn't about the race of the character, it was about the new way they filmed the fight scenes...and a great story and concept...
