- Bachelors degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education or related field; or 4 years experience in a swim team coaching capacity.
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification
- Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard Certification*
- Current YMCA Swimming Coach Certification*
- Must be a registered United States Swimming Coach*
- Demonstrate knowledge of sound competitive swimming skills, and the ability to implement and teach these skills in a positive, healthy manner
- Ability to demonstrate personal characteristics that exemplify the YMCA 6 Pillars of Character: Caring, Citizenship, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness and Trustworthiness

A BS is physical education and a teaching certificate - and being CPR trained will be a must too.
