they all just repeat "put some D's on it" and then my daughter will walk way ahead or behind me like I'm not her father..these are a bunch of 6th graders by the way.

Don't feel bad about your daughter not walking with you. I used to do this to my parents and looking back I can't even explain why and I feel bad that I did this. Your daughter is ready for some independence. Give her your space. Kids can be really horrible. If the D's thing means the rims these kids probably don't even know what they're talking about - they just think it's cool to talk like that. AND... if it's 6th graders picking on your daughter they probably think she's cute or at least worth talking to. If she was a complete dork, (I always feel/felt so bad for those kids) they wouldn't give her the time of day. Anyways - try to brush it off as much as you can... kids just don't have any empathy.

Its a song called throw some D's on it....which means you have a new ride and u will throw some new rims on it. But your story sounds like you have a raggedy ride and the school kids are teasing your daughter about it. thats why shes embarassed to walk with you!

Kids are mean, mean, mean during the middle school years. Allow your daughter to walk up to your car without you getting out of it and meeting her. She needs to be strong and allowed to show some independence.

If parents only knew how rotten their middle kid is!!!! Most are blind...

Well, here is my guess:

1. It's some sort of insult aimed at your size or weight and it embarrasses her because parents are fatally "uncool" at this juncture of their lives. Try asking her what it means. If she won't answer, then I'm probably right. Kids are so disrespectful! Not your daughter, but those arrogant ones tormenting both of you.

Remind them that D's are just expensive rims made from cheap plastic and it'll take them 10 years before they figured out you lied to them. D stands for die-cast plastic.
