The real question is how to fully distract yourself from the terrifying notion of your own death. Whatever works for you -- religion with it's promises of eternal life or rebirth, a busy job, attachment to others, attachment to objects, introspection/meditation. They are all distractions of the knowledge of death. That knowledge is what makes humans unique - beyond that we are just another species of great ape.

the earth is a evolving place, we all have our time here. The plants, rocks, animals etc.Everything must end.We are here for no other reason than we are just here. All cells, water, electrons. But my advice is to stop thinking about it and enjoy.Be good to yourself and others including the so called lesser creatures.Life is indeed too short.

I have been alive for awhile not and I don't spend even a moment worrying about my death. I know that faith is pretty much unknown today but it sure makes life worth living. I know that when I die Nothing bad will happen in the afterlife. Now I have time to think about others and to create beauty., and show love to my family. If you are looking for distractions you need to get busy and do things that you love and to fill others lives with your charm.

I unquestionably have confronted my mortality some cases. general that if i had moved in basic terms one greater inch to the left or appropriate i might have died. i on no account had that phantasm of protection that maximum childrens did. i knew that the worldwide replaced right into a chilly, cruel place and that there replaced into no such factor as a secure place. if loss of life replaced into coming for you there is not any struggling with it. i'm slightly paranoid yet as I unquestionably have lived this manner my finished existence you learn how to administration and understanding help as particularly a million to a minimum of one possibility won't ensue on a daily basis. i'm not unreasonable. i don't ask your self approximately the way it would be to be ineffective anymore. such techniques are actually not efficient to getting out of a dismal temper. if there replaced into no after existence it does not count because of the fact i might now not exist to be mad. nevertheless i might hate to have confidence in not something and ought to stand in front of God or whoever and clarify why i did not have confidence. cya.

Life is like a blank piece of paper. Whatever you wrote on this piece of paper is the meaning of your life.

People create distraction not only to be away from the fear of death but more from the fear of boredom. We are no longer human beings but human "doing". We cannot be still for a moment without switching on the TV, reading a book or even finding anything to do.

You certainly will create distractions with your avatar! :)

While I agree that many people keep themselves busy so they don't have time to contemplate serious issues they are afraid to face (mortality being one of them) I don't think that merely keeping occupied creates a meaningful life. Sometimes it is by daring to think about the bigger questions & examine your life that you discover who you really are & what really matters. Then you make the most of your life by doing things that matter, rather than just overscheduling your life with trivial & mundane things.

I don't worry about my mortality. I know that I will die one day (hopefully peacefully in my sleep when I'm very old) but I am not obsessed with it. I don't avoid thinking about things that scare me. Knowledge of my own mortality is part of what inspires me to go after my dreams, to tell my loved ones how much they mean to me. I know that this life is short & that we have to make the most of each day. I am not distracted, rather I am paying attention. Yes there is comfort in religion. I do believe in an afterlife, so perhaps this is why death is not so terrifying a prospect (I know it's not the end). I hate my job but I tolerate it so that I can afford other things that matter to me. I love others, I love my home & my things. These aren't distractions, these are things that I enjoy & that enhance my life. There is much much more to life than sitting around waiting to die. When death is horrifying to me is when it's the death of someone I love. That is very hard to bear. (I had to deal with losing two close friends within the last year & it was devestating). I try not to think about losing those I love. That's far scarier to me than dying myself.

The knowledge of death is genetically programmed into all living things. The one thing they all have in common is the drive for survival. Survival for themselves and for their species. This is the ultimate acknowledgement of death. The only real way to void this knowledge is to meet death itself.

I only wonder what is the need to "distract" ourselves from the "notion" of death. I don't even think about it. & why it would be "terrifying." LIVE LIVE LIVE LIVE. My "immortality" is in this very moment. Cheers.

The meaning of life is love of God and joy in the knowledge that we are eternal and that death has no affect on us.

Jesus conquered death. There is nothing to be afraid of anymore. If we believe, He will act in our defense and say " He/she belongs to me".

Is it possible, the meaning of life is to glorify God?
