sibling: freshman in college, struggling with grades & probably under a lot of peer pressure

Sit down with your parents and just tell them flat out about your sibling's problem. Since you're not that close to them, it may be tough, but just think about what will happen if you don't tell them at all! Your sibling's carreer and maybe even life is in danger, so you haven't got a minute to lose! Talk to your parents, no matter how awkward it feels. Hope your sibling gets better!

tell your parents they have a right to know what is going on, and while your sibling maybe mad at you for telling you are doing it for their own good because you don't not want to see them headed down a dangerous road and can put a stop to it before it gets really out of hand.....

dont tell them. this is not your problem. let your sibling do it. telling on them, and yes thats basically what it is, will only cause animosity beween you and ur sibling.
what you should do is have aheart to heart with your sibling and urge them to get help, talk to your parents. whatever is necessary. esp if this is a problem, and im assuming it is since u said ttheir grades are not ideal.
however. if this situation gets out of hand, say ur sibling is becomming an alcoholic, and they STILL wont seek help, THEN is the time to tell ur parents and get him/her some help.

You don't tell your parents anything, its none of your business & if you do narc on your sibling, they will probably kick your butt & never trust you ever again.

Stay out of it with the parents, do not tell. Try and speak with your sibling one on one, tell him or her that you are concerned with the smoking and the drinking. Tell him/her that it hurts you to see him or her hurting themselves with the smoking and drinking. Telling your parents will just further alienate you with your sibling, trust me on this one.
