Thursday
the Dr. sent me to the hospital for more bloodwork.
Told me to go ASAP.

They promised me that Dr N* would review the
results that afternoon and they would call me. When I
didn't hear anything today I called them and they told me
that he hadn't reviewed them. ( A nurse yesterday afternoon told me that he
was in the office and would
review them then.) - So anyway he hadn't looked at
them and he was now out of the office and in DC for
a conference. I was told that some of my bloodwork
was still out of whack, but they wouldn't elaborate and
told me that it would have to wait until next week.
I can't for the life of me understand why I was sent
to the hospital for bloodwork if they had no intention
of reviewing it and trying to help me.

I called them back and told them that I wanted answers and that it seemed
that noone there would even try to
help me and that I was thinking of going elsewhere.
I told them about the nurse telling me lies that he wasn't
even in town and then Thursday telling me that he was
in town and had been trying all week to leave and he
told her when she called him about me that he couldn't
keep doing this - (being bothered).

This is when they told me that DR N* and DR R*
took turns being in the office - so I asked them that
did this mean that when Noble is out there was noone
to take his place, noone to help me if I needed them?

It ended today with me calling and leaving a message that I want my records
and that I needed to be seeing someone who at least wanted and would try to
help me.

I am very frustrated and at my wits end. If I don't get
help soon, I am going to just forget about it and let it
go, since I can't get help. Its useless.

I am sorry for rambling... You are a good friend and
I didn't mean to go on like that. Just needed to get this
off of my chest. One good thing is its Friday night and
I can at least try to get rest.

In other words, your blood work didn't suggest any sort of emergency.

If you'd had VERY elevated values (panic values), your doctor's nurse would likely have called him for further instructions. Since she didn't, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you're really pissed at your doctor, by all means, find another one. But I think you'll find that just about every doctor operates this way. They simply have too many patients to keep track of details on. Doctors HAVE TO rely on others to point out critical information that they will have to make decisions on. Unless your doctor has, maybe, 20 patients in his entire practice, he's not going to be able to remember all of your particulars. But if anything is badly amiss, I'm sure it will be caught, and dealt with.

Get a copy of your test results. Look them over. Keep in mind that people frequently have elevated lab levels that aren't that big a deal, or which can be explained by other things in their medical history. This is especially true for LFTs, such as AST, ALT, and AlkPO4.

*** EDIT ***

Fatty infiltration is a common cause for elevated LFTs. It's not a terribly big deal, and can be reversed by weight loss--which isn't going to happen over the course of a week, or even a month.

I'm so sorry, now days doctors do not seem to be there for the patient like they used to be. If possible I'd call and talk to the highest ranking person in the office, maybe you can get someone that way, or you could always call the Better Business Bureau...it's stressful enough knowing that something could be wrong, and for them to delay telling you is wrong.
