I have Windows 98 and I have the Windows XP disk and I tried downloading it but its not workin! How can I have XP instead of 98?!?!?

well, 98 is pretty old, and i reccomend getting a new computer. Can you list your system parts. you might need an upgrade for your computer so it can be compatible with xp. if your confused, then ill tell it in english. You might not have the systen requirements.

Windows 98 is Windows XP. See... on a disk it says Windows r 98/ME/2000/XP. Or the problem is the disk, it could have dist or fingerprints on it. Or maybe it's the computer. It could be old or not working properly.

Put XP cd in to the CD rom drive and run xp exe file
it will ask for advance installation or upgrade
you select upgrade and run it

Stick the XP disk in and it should run. If it doesn't, open the disk to see the files, and hit the setup.exe file

put in the xp cd - restart the computer - boot screen will ask "press any key to boot from cd" - hit any key - follow steps and make sure to delete the 98 partition
