My cat is able to fend for herself and I think must pride herself on this ability. If I didn't happen to provide food, she won't mope around and get all depressed waiting for me to come home and feed her. She'll just go kill a mouse and eat it. Sounds self-sufficient, well cared for, and quite Republican to me.
