So I end up going to Home Depot for my projects. The prices are fairly reasonable but don't have much of a variety of hard woods for my projects. I've tried other places including Rocklers but they are too expensive too. Are there any warehouses I could go to in the Peoria, Glendale, Pheonix area which have reasonable prices? One source of hardwood, if you don't mind a bit of work, is old pallets. Many of these are made of maple or oak. If you can find some that are imported from Asia, many of those are made from Mahogany, which is a common wood over there. I've found Walnut and even Bloodwood in some pallets. You'll have to resaw a lot and you have to watch for nails and fill holes, but most of your wood will be free.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.
