For specific entries in
Internet Explorer- highlight entry and hit delete
Firefox- Highlight and hit shift+delete

another method you could clear cookies, erasing all search terms..
Internet Explorer- Tools>>Internet options, then delete cookies
Firefox- Tools>>clear private data, only check cookies
