I was named after the song (of course) Shannon by Henry Gross. I wonder just how many other people were named after this song.

I named my daughter Shannen (female spelling) because of it's meaning. Gaelic for small, wise one. And she sure is!!! It's a great name because it's not strange or odd or rare, yet we rarely run across any others with the same name.

My brother was named after the river Shannon, I have met one other male Shannon also, but don't know his reason. My daughter's friend Shannon is called that due to her Irish heritage.

My daughter Shannon got her name because her mother, Colleen is part Irish and named Shannon after the longest river in Ireland...The Shannon River.

i got my name because
a. it means god is gracious
b. i was born at a hospital near the shannon river in ireland
c. that was my aunt's name, who passed away two weeks before i was born.

The only thing I know about my name is what my Dad said once. He said that they wanted something that sounded soft and flowing. I was almost Heather. I haven't asked my Mom.
