The Bible can be altered in any direction? Anyone who has any kind of arguement about any kind of issue can find a berse in the bible and only use part of it to prove their point. I only believe about 45% of these "Verse Slingers" have actually read that enitre book, which, by the way; was translated and streched and screwed in the begining. Im really at point in my life that I think i believe in a "Supreme Being" but not necessarily any one god. What does everyone else think? Intilectual answers only, please! All bigots and Hypocrits will be reported!

Completely true. Regardless of what your beliefs are, I think you're right...the Bible can back up pretty much any opinion, and it has been completely changed over the years.

The issue may not lay with the Bible directly, but with those interpreting it. People seem to pick and choose what fits with them the best. For example, people seem to choose to quote verses that allow them to express their opinions, like the ones that preach hate, yet forget "Judge not lest ye be judged."

Religion is a very personal choice, and whether you choose to believe in a supreme being or not is up to you. You don't even have to pick a specific supreme being to believe in. My feeling is that all of the main religions work on the same general principle - "Don't be a dick, treat others as you would want to be treated, and live and let live." Does work this way in principle? Of course not, because no one's perfect. Call it human nature.

I can only tell you from my own experience that no the Bible has not been all screwed up. Man is the one that gets things all screwed up because he does not want to bend the knee to God. It is the old pride thing. Unfortunately it will lead to the road of destruction. The right way (God's way) is narrow and few there be that choose it even though God is willing that none should perish. Glad to hear you are in the position of searching out for what is truth. The Bible does tell us the truth shall set you free, Christ said " I am the Way the Truth and the Life and no man comes to the Father except through me". I know you don't like snipits of scripture but these verses are not really taken out of context they do stand alone in what they mean and say. Search out Christ and you cannot go wrong!

I agree with your statment about it being scewerd to meet peoples wants. I actualy went to a church where they were fallowing the king james version of the bible and I ended up correcting the pastor on his quote on the bible. He asked me to be in the adult bible study when I was 12 lol. I am pagan and at the time was pagan if that says anything about the people who actualy read it. I will sit in a room that has a discussion and ask a simple question and people cannot answer it yet they condem me for not following their faith. One of the most oldest translations that is out there that we as the public know of is the dead sea scrolls. They changed words of the or I or you and names Did you know that jesus was said to be fond of Astarte...Astarte is the summerian goddess of the earth and sky.

You're right. People are indeed misusing the Bible. But thoses people are probably not Bilbe scholars who have any credibility to what they are talking about. If you were to talk to a real theologian, you could probably find that the Bible is actually credible. Besides, if you are wrong and the Bible is true, you will probably wish you believed if you are in Hell.

Supreme or otherwise, I believe in a higher power. I don't believe in religion because religion is Man Made.

most of the verses about hate that the quote all the time come from the old testament... Leviticus to be more exact... even the catholic church doesn't use that anymore. it was more of a guide line written by man for the time period they were in.... if they still followed it you wouldn't see so many eating seafood anymore and alot more of them beating their wives because they talked to another man

Good. Now you just have to ask yourself whether or not you have a logical reason for believing in any supreme being at all.

I think the bible is a piece of siht. sorry, but it's fictional...If god had wanted to leave a book---then maybe he could have learned to write it himself.

You're right. Even the Devil can quote scripture. You have to get all right with things starting with yourself...
