Yeah...I guess it's pretty cool. But she didn't really defeat the Armada; the English fleet did. Nevertheless, it was a crucial point in American history; if England had not risen victorious from that battle, then the American colonies as we knew them (and the greater British Empire, for that matter) would probably not have been as great as it was. We might even be speaking Spanish today (assuming we lived here) because Spain would have conquered nearly all of the New World. Possibly French, but most likely Spanish. Funny how the littlest things have such a HUGE impact on history?

She didn't do it all by herself. The weather helped a bit.
And the British will be speaking Arabic sooner than they think. No lucky turn of the wind to stop that.
"At midnight, Howard sent eight fire ships into the congested Spanish ranks. Many Spanish Captains cut their cables in their haste to escape the flames. They blundered away from the blaze straight into the gunfire of the waiting English. Unfortunately for the Spanish, their fire power was vastly inferior to that of the English.
A change of wind blew the Armada North out of the range of English fire. However, the wind became a gale and the Spanish were driven further North and many were dashed on the Northern rocks. The survivors were forced to make their way round the Orkneys and down the Irish coast.

this would help you. The defeat of the Spanish Armada is likely one in each of the main typical activities in English history. It became arguably Queen Elizabeth's maximum widespread hour. For years she were hailed because of the fact the English Deborah, the savior of the English people, and now it looked that that's what she had extremely substitute into. She became now Bellona, the goddess of conflict, and in triumph she had led her people to glory, defeating the final ability interior the sixteenth century international. Spain became the main effective usa interior the international. Philip II governed massive territories of land, and had unheard of wealth from the hot international. England became a small usa, with little wealth, few acquaintances, and a marvelous type of enemies. If Queen Elizabeth ever felt nervous approximately problematic the final ability interior the huge-unfold international, she never confirmed it, and regarded to have confidence thoroughly interior the devotion and loyalty of her people. by ability of believing in them, they believed in her.

No. There are thousands of times when history would have been different if a battle had decided differently. What if Alfred the Great hadn't stated the navy and stopped the Vikings? The fact that he is the only monarch that is called "Great " should tell you something about his importance in English history.

Personally, I wouldn't mind speaking Spanish (or even French, if the end of French colonization in the Americas hadn't come around). I just wish I could have seen it first-hand! From a distance, of course :) I always like to think what we would be like if England hadn't taken dominance in our old colonies. There might not have even been a United States if Spain or France could subdue our ancestors' rebellions. Nice question, it gets me thinking!

No, she didn't defeat it. There was never a naval battle of any size. Most of the spanish Armada was wrecked in bad weather.
