to Ricky Williams? Just kidding. Anyone know why the name change?

Ya, his mom's maiden name was Williams and he wanted his kids to have that name, here is an excerpt from an ESPN story...
"The Texans' franchise leading rusher, who spent this season on the injured reserve with a knee problem, has legally changed his last name from Davis to Williams, his mother's maiden name.
He said that Davis was the last name of the father of his older brother and he never felt right about having his name.
"I had to do it and it was time. I didn't want my kids to grow up carrying something else that I'm really not," said Williams, the father of two young children. "I felt like it was the perfect time for me to do it. Come back fresh, come back new."

Davis was the last name of his older brothers father, not his. I think he just never felt that was his real name. So, he changed it to his mothers maiden name Williams. With two young kids, he also didn't want his kids to grow up with a name that he really wasn't. He also changed his number to his college and high school number 31, and cut his braids to help get a new image since he was hurt all of last season.

It had something to do with his real mom or dad or something. I think he changed it to his moms name. Dont know for sure though, it happened in I think December or January.

I remember something about this but I can't remember the specifics. Maybe he had a Priest Holmes type of thing.

I'm not sure but I think it had to do with his parents.
